How to make Ginger Gems - Home Economics

Hi, this last week in Home Economics we are making Ginger Gems. The process we're a bit chaotic due to the typo that is in the recipe paper that we are following the rules in. Here's a slideshow I made if you are interested in how to make your own Ginger Gems:

The outcome was okay but it was a bit burnt as you can see in the picture.
I rate it 7/10, not too bad. What we could do better is that maybe we should pay attention to more to the instructions that we're given. Bye~ Have an awesome day!

How to make Cup Cakes - Home Economics

Hi, This week in Home Economics, we baked cupcakes. We had 2 sessions on making the cupcake. Tuesday - baking the cupcake and Friday - Decorating the cupcake.
We had the challenge to try tricking the brain by not having the match colours to its flavour. You'll see on the slides down below that we had colour Blue icing but the flavour was Strawberry n' cream. In total, we baked, 12 cupcakes in total, we divided it into 4 people which is my team. We had 3 cupcakes each and we have to make the 3 cupcakes identical.
Here's a slideshow I made to show you how to make your own delicious cupcake:

The cupcake wasn't that bad, it was alright for me. But there are some problems we had because I think we overmixed the icing and the texture was lumpy and not fluffy. Maybe next time we should be extra careful on mixing things to make sure we don't over mix it.
Thank you for viewing my post, have a great day!~

How to make Spiced Apple Muffins - Home Economics

Hi! This is a late post. In Home Economics we baked Spiced Apple Muffins. Here's a slideshow I made to show you how to make Spice Apple Muffins. Here ya go:

I rate the finished product 5/10. It's not too bad and good, just neutral. I think to make this better next time is maybe to be accurate and precise with the number of ingredients. But overall, it's not too bad.
Bye!~

Chronomatography - Hurumanu 3 - Science

Hi, Today in Hurumanu 3, Science we are learning about Chromatography. Chroma means 'colour' in greek. The purpose of this experiment is to see what are the different colours that one certain colour has. For this experiment, I chose the colour, Violet.

Aim: To separate pigment colors.

Hypothesis: I think mine will have a different variety of colours on it.

Method:
1. Get your Filter paper strip and cut it in half.
2. Choose a colour felt and draw a dot two fingers away from the bottom
3. Fill up your beaker about 50ml of water.
4. Place your filter paper in the side of the beaker.
5. Wait for a couple of minutes until the colour spreads.

Results:
My first colour results (Colour Violet)
There were Light blue and Pink popped up inside purple.
My 2nd colour results; I used Colour Black this time:
The colours that are in here are Orange, Purple, Blue, Sky Blue, and a little bit of pink.

Bye! Have a great day!~

Sendai, Japan Earthquake - Hurumanu 3 (Social Studies)

Hi, This week in Hurumanu 3 - Social Studies, I learned about some biggest Earthquake around the world. There were a couple of biggest earthquake events had happened in the past and I have to choose 1 event and that is the Earthquake (+Tsunami) that had happened in Sendai Japan, On March 11, 2001 (which is the day yesterday). In our task, we ha dot do some sort of article about the incident. Here is an article I made using Google Drawing, I hope you like it =)

Second, our second task was to make a map graph about the biggest Earthquakes that had happen around the world. Here's my DLO:

Evaporation - Experiment (Hurumanu 3)

Separating a Mixture using Evaporation:

Aim: We are trying to evaporate to separate our mixture.
Hypothesis: I think there will be a litle bit of liquid left.

Equipment: Copper Sulfate Solution, 250mL, Beaker, heatproof mat, evaporating basin, element.

Method
1. Set up element
2. Add 50mL of hot water to the beaker and place it on the element.
3. Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.
4. Carefully, place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker.
5. Turn on the element to 8
6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming
7. Turn off the element - careful not to touch as will hot for a long time.

Observations: As we were waiting for it to heat up, I noticed a bunch of tiny bubbles started popping up.

Conclusion: As time passes by, the experiment has come to an end. The results of the experiment where unexpectedly expected. The Copper sulfate solution has crystallized. It looks fascinating to me.

My hypothesis was wrong, I thought there would be at least a little bit of liquid left but it fully crystallized. I think my hypothesis was wrong because I thought the temperature of the stove isn't high but because of the amount of time we left it heating up, it crystallized.

Thank you for reading my post, have a lovely day!~

I'm SO Stressed out right now!

Hi! This week in Health subject we are learning about the Taha Hinengaro side of Hauora. Meaning, Mental and Emotional wellbeing in English. We had a choice on which one to do research about, I picked the topic "Stress' to research. Based on our task, we have to list 3 helpful websites that could help you to cope with stress and here are links to some helpful websites.

Feel free to go to any links.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

⤴ I recommend you to please watch this video explaining how stress affects you.

How does stress affect the four sides of your wellbeing/Hauora?

Let's first talk about Taha Tinana (Physical Wellbeing).
It can affect your body by tensing up your heartbeats, making you anxious and nervous causing you a lack of focus on your learning, and you might even have a lack of sleep. But stress doesn't necessarily cause bad things, it can also make you alarmed on a danger causing your body to move instantly.

Next, Taha Wairua (Spiritual Wellbeing).
There is a thing called "Spiritual Stress". What it does is that it loses your interest in life or just feeling lost and lonely. Not knowing what you wanted to do in the future or not having the same satisfaction you had before on some things that you enjoy.

Thirdly, Taha Whanau (Social Wellbeing).
Image result for physical stressStress can affect your relationships with your family or friends. If your stressed, you won't be able to think the straight or think through your actions, meaning you might say something unpleasant to them and this might be the cause for your relationship to end.

Lastly, Taha HInenagro (Mental & Emotional Wellbeing).
Stress can affect your emotions and how you think a lot. By overthinking and your all over the place, not managing your emotions pretty well, etc. Stress can change how you think, if it does not cope early, you might even change your personality. So make sure to seek out for help to others.

Conclusion, Stress can be both bad and good =)
Thank you so much for reading my post.
If you are stress, what are your ways to deal with it? Comment down below.

How to make Pizza Swirls?

Pizza Swirls

Hi, last week we made Pizza Swirls in Home Economics (Cooking). There were 4 people in my team and they are Janel, Lars, Vann and me. I couldn't say it was an easy-going procedure due to the problem of not having the right amount of an ingredient. Maybe next time, we could pay attention more to the instructions. But overall, it was fun to make Pizza Swirls.

I made a slide show on how to make your own Pizza Swirls.
Here's how to make your own Pizza Swirls:

The taste of our own made Pizza Swirls was good. It's not the perfect ideal taste due to the lack of time to bake it but It's not too bad too. I would rate it 7/10. =)
Have a great day!

Evaporation || Hurumanu 3, Chemistry ||

Hello, Today in Hurumanu 3, we are learning about evaporation. The teacher gave us 3 questions to answer in our blog. Here are three questions:
1. Why a dissolved-solute cannot be filtered
2. What evaporation is?
3. How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution?

I did some research but here you go. Let's answer the easiest question. What is Evaporation?
Evaporation is an act turning liquid to gas. Like for example, In the water cycle, there is a part that the liquid or should I say ocean evaporates by the sunlight shining through it causing it to become clouds in the sky.

Next question, Why a dissolved-solute cannot be filtered? I think It can't be filtered because the solute has already dissolved and has mixed with the solvent, but it can still be filtered by evaporating it and it will leave out the dried solute.

Last but not the least, How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution. Just like I've answered at the top, you can evaporate it. Now how do you do it? You use bunsen burners or just flames but be careful and you basically just heat up the solution. Eventually, it will do the magic. Bye!
Do you like the subject Science? Why or Why not?

9/11 Timeline - Hurumanu 3 - Chaos

Hello! This week and last week in Hurumanu 3 (Chaos Side) we are learning about a chaos incident back in the last decade. People mostly call it '9/11' due to the date of when the big accident happened. It occurred on September 11, 2001, in New York, America. Our task was to make a timeline on the main events that happened that unfortunate day. Here's my timeline:
I hope you like it! Have a wonderful day!
