My lovely photo-montage collage artwork!

Hello! This week in Art, we moved on making our own photo-montage collage art. The photomontage style of art is a montage constructed from photographic images The previous one was made on paper. This time around, we are having a go in making our own photomontage collage digitally. we were tasked to make a couple so here's mine. I made 3 in total. I hope you like it!

Photomontage 1:

This was my first attempt at making a photomontage collage digitally. The idea I had in my head was to make it as a desert theme. As you can see, on the right side, I made that person's arm turn into some macarons because it sorta fit in from the wrist. The ice cream cone that the figure was holding ended up looking like Hello Kitty because of the cherry representing it as the bow. The hand that is holding the White cat signifies that it is getting served that is why the angle of that arm is a bit higher than the left one. Speaking of the left side, the ice cream cone that the figure was holding contained a cute round bunny. At the top of the bunny, there is a sunflower plant growing in its head. Having the orange wing butterfly hanging on it just adds to the idea that it is an actual plant and is pollinating the sunflower. At last, the background is just some deserts that relate to the main object.

Photomontage 2:

This is my second photomontage collage art. The theme of this artwork is lemons. I started it off with some anime guy, eventually covered it's faced with a large lemon and added some details to it by pasting some small lemons both sides to represent the ears. I noticed the t-shirt were kinda empty so I pasted some lemons that have some green leaves on it to the shirt to give it some design. With all of those details, it turned out to be a lemon figure. Although it didn't have any facial structures, the hands, neck and body were enough to consider it as a person. The figure is on a pose that makes both of their fists crumbled up into a ball as a sign of cheer. As the whole thing is mostly just yellow, it represents the enthusiasm and energy that the colour yellow brings out. As well as the Sunflower on the bottom left corner.

Photomontage 3:

Lastly, this was the third photomontage collage artwork. Firstly, I took a photo of one of the k-pop idol that I adore. I cut the picture and edited the background. But before I moved on to the background, I edited a white shadow at the back of the person to make it more like 3d. Now for the background, I gathered some aesthetic peach themed pictures from the internet and just sorta paste them all over the place. You can also see some of the repetitive images on the background somewhere. I only used about 8 different images and put it all together to turn into an aesthetic background. As you probably noticed, I also put some of the pictures into a different angle. It turned out pretty well. For the finishing touch, I decided to add some flower crown to the person. 

If I have to choose out of these 3 masterpieces of which one I like the most, I would probably choose Photomontage 3, it's because I put a lot of effort and hard work into this one, especially the background and the white shadow of the figure. Therefore, I am proud of all of my finished product artwork.

Hurumanu 5: Summary & Reflection

Hello! This week is the end of our current Hurumanu subject and next week we will be moving on to the next rotation. In this blog post, I am just reflecting on the previous things we've done in this Hurumanu subject, (Hurumanu 5 Science & Maths). One of the things that we have done in this rotation is Geometry and Algebra. We were taught a different variety of things relating to geometry/algebra and as well as Science in the combine. For the past 13 weeks in this Hurumanu, I don't really have a favourite part that I liked. Not because it was bad or boring or anything. It's just Maths isn't the subject I would be enthusiastic to learn about. However, for the most part, on the Science side. I think I enjoyed some of the experiments we did. What could make this Hurumanu better maybe is to explain a bit further on the new topic we are learning for a better understanding for some of the students but other than that, I think this Hurumanu wasn't too bad.

Now, to show some of our learning we've learnt in this subject, we were tasked to make a DLO showing our understanding in one of the things that we were taught of. For the past few weeks, we were taught the basic of Algebra. We learnt about Algebraic equation. Now in this DLO, we have to show a little bit of the science side. For the science part, I did Botany. I'm just gonna show you how to put your plant growth rate into an equation. At the beginning of the slide, I'm just showing each by step on how to solve an Algebraic Expression. Mamon - Filipino Dessert

Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. Today I'll be doing a blog post about a specific dessert I baked during the quarantine lockdown of COVID-19. In Home Economics (Cooking) subject, our task during the lockdown was to bake at least one food and blogged about it. For me, I baked one of the tasty Filipino dessert named 'Mamon'. Basically, Mamon is an airy Filipino sponge cake and they can be found in one of the bakery shops in the Philippines. I guarantee you, it is worth baking!

Ingredients: 1/4 cup butter, melted 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup sugar 6 eggs 1/4 cup water 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

It was a long time ago so I forgot how to do it in steps. But...

Science: Lab Safety - Hurumanu 5

Hi, Today in Science Hurumanu 5. We were talking about Lab Safety.

Safety: To protect yourself from harm and danger.

2. Do not run in the lab.

How to make Pizza Swirls?

Pizza Swirls 

Hi, last week we made Pizza Swirls in Home Economics (Cooking). There were 4 people in my team and they are Janel, Lars, Vann and me. I couldn't say it was an easy-going procedure due to the problem of not having the right amount of an ingredient. Maybe next time, we could pay attention more to the instructions. But overall, it was fun to make Pizza Swirls.

The taste of our own made Pizza Swirls was good. It's not the perfect ideal taste due to the lack of time to bake it but It's not too bad too. I would rate it 7/10. =)

CIP - Tane Mahuta (T4 W6)

Hi, today is Wednesday so that means CIP day - (Tane Mahuta). I helped out taking out the Ivy's and I also helped out making drench to plant seeds in there. The garden is looking pretty good so far but there's still a lot of Ivy for us to remove but I don't we'll be able to take them all because...
1) We only have 2 weeks until the school year ends
2) We only have Wednesday sessions for Tane Mahuta to work on it
3) The Ivies are going back again

Fun Facts:
As we were taking all the Ivy out, we found an interesting tiny house kinda-like and it's covered with Ivy all over it.

PE Hurumanu - Warm-Ups and Drills

This week in PE Hurumanu, There were 6 different teams that were randomly chosen by the teachers. I was with Zoe, Risha, Shalizeh, Kya, Matt, Alex and Jayden. Our task was to choose a sport that we want to play during the PE Hurumanu sessions. We've all chose Volleyball because we thin It's an interesting sport and we wanna learn that as well. Our main task now is to fill in the template doc of how we're gonna teach that sport we've chosen to the class which is pretty challenging. In one of the parts, to teach our class that sport we were required to make a couple of warm-ups to be done for 5 minutes and two drills that practise the 2 skills in volleyball.

 We created 3 main warm-ups to be done in 5 minutes. 

Our warm-ups are: 

- 20 Walking Hip flexor stretch

- 20 Walking glute stretch

- 20 Squats

- 20 Laps running back and forth

Our 2 drills are:

- Long-throw

How to do it:

Get a partner and a volleyball. For this drill, you need to stand across each other and practises hitting the ball we will teach you how to hit the ball. Make sure to aim a little high when you hit so you can practise hitting the ball over the net.

- ServingHow to do it:
Serving - The next drill we will be teaching you will be how to serve in a volley. For this, you will need a group of two so in pairs. You will try serving over a net. The aim is to have served that land in the other person's hands. 

So Far those are the things we've done. Next week, we we'll be focusing on making our slides of how to play our sports which is Volleyball. I don't know much in Volleyball so I guess I'll be learning how to play it as well in this Hurumanu. Bye! Have a great day!

National Young Leaders Day 2019

In the 30th of May,  1 student from each class in HHS 7/8's to go to the NYLD at Horncastle Arena. There were 9 students in total, and those students are me, Risha, Qyn, Milan, Nici, Hayley, Tobey, Lasa, Quaiden and Blake (5 Girls and 4 Boys) and Miss Tozer.

The theme of that day was about the food of a leader.
 In Maori:
He Aha Te Kai a Te Rangatira?
He Kōrero, He Kōrero, He Kōrero.

In English:
What is the food of a leader?
It is Conversations.

NYLD event is a lovely event where young leaders hear enticing messages from role models/special speakers. Not just to listen to their messages but also get inspired by them.

There were 5 Guests speakers and they are Dr Lehan Stemmet, Sala Tiatia, Ronnie Taulafo, Christian Gallen and Kings and the 2 great hosts and they were Liz Alexander and Phil Baker.  My favourite speaker was Sala Tiatia because he gave a meaningful message and has a great sense of humour too.

Kindness Boomerang!

Kumusta! This week in Community Impact Project (CIP) we've learned about the 5 ways to Wellbeing. The topic we're focusing today was "Taking Notice". We watched a video about a man and a kid giving back kindness to each other. That was a wonderful story and it taught me that If you give kindness to others It'll be given back to you.

Here's the awesome video that we've watched:

The kindness boomerang in that story is a long time ago a little boy wants a cake for his birthday but they can't afford it. The boy felt sad, but this generous man in the queue notices about it and decided to buy the cake for the little boy. Next, the mother wants to pay back the man in the queue for buying that cake and want him to give his number in a piece of paper. Instead, he wrote a great message in the piece of paper. The message was "A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple". 

The little boy was grateful about it and promised the man he will give kindness to others some day. 

The day comes when the wife of the man in the queue was buying food for the birthday of the man in the queue.

Her grandchildren want to buy a cake for his grandpa but the cake was too expensive, so they return it.  The little boy before that the generous man in the queue helped, he bought the cake for them. 

The wife wants to pay him back and wants his number in a piece of paper, and instead, he wrote the same message. "A simple of act of caring creates an endless ripple".

Puppets Making!

Puppets Making!

Kia Ora! On Tuesday this week in Drama, we did some puppets making. My groups were Risha, Shreya, and Nevaeh. We made 2 healthy food and unhealthy food, one of these are liquid and solid. 

For healthy food, we make some Apple and water, and for the unhealthy food, we make some Pizza and a Coke. Next week, I'm going to do a post about the incredible show of this puppets, but for now, Me and my group are still planning about the story of this puppet.

Community Impact Project (C.I.P.)

Community Impact Project

Hola! Today I'm gonna be telling you guys all about what we're doing in C.I.P. 

Community Impact Project is an activity where people from 7/8 Ds, Bh, Sh, and Tz come together. 

It's all about helping around a community, and there are 4 areas of community and they're Global community, Hornby community, Hornby High School community and last but not the least Christchurch community.

I joined the Christchurch Community group because I want to work in that community.

Our Leader in that group is Sharney.
I came up with an idea where we fund raise money for the people by hosting Mufti Day (In school, where people are allowed to wear clothes of their choice).
And that money that we get from Mufti Day, we will use them to make food or snacks for people who need food or anyone that would like one.

We will achieve that only if Mr. Scott and other Bosses around HHS
let us host a mufti day around HHS.

My Goals This Year!

Graduate Profile Goal

Guten Tag! Today, I'm gonna be sharing to you guys my goal for this year in Graduate Profile.
 First of all, What is Graduate Profile?

Graduate Profile is like a bunch of values, and it's separated into 5 different parts. These 5 different parts are Learning Smart, Cyber Smart, Thinking Smart, People Smart, and Active Learner.

What we did is we set up 3 goals, and My 3 goals are:

1. I can use digital tools creatively.
Sometimes, I can't do this because, when you do your work in Powtoon and etc, for example, It'll take a lot of time to make it in there. Especially, sometimes we don't have a lot of time to work on that stuff, so yeah.

2. I have a growth mindset
I can't do this because I don't believe in my self that I can do it.

3. I'm an outstander - I choose to help others who are having a difficult time
I can't o this because I'm a shy type of person.

Have I met these goals?
- Not YET

Will, I met these goals before the end of the term?
- I think so...

How do you know?
- Because I'm practicing to do it.

Kumusta! My name is Elisha Mae, and I’m from Hornby Primary School, today I’m going to talk about rare Dolphins in the world, that might blow your minds, so seat back and get ready to be amazed. First, I’m going to talk about Maui dolphin and I hope you guys Enjoy!. Did you know guys, that Maui dolphin and Hector's dolphin are cousins, well I’m here to help you, learn more about rare dolphins.

“Maui’s Dolphins”, Maui’s Dolphins is the world's smallest species of dolphin and it is one of the rarest known dolphin in the world. Why they are so special?, they are special because they are only found in west coast of New Zealand North Island and nowhere else in the world.“Coast” means the part of the land that near in the sea.

They are a subspecies of the Hector’s Dolphin. Maui and Hector’s dolphin look different to other common dolphin because, they are the only New Zealand dolphin a rounded black dorsal fin. Here’s an evidence:

The word “Maui” is from the Maui’s dolphin’s name comes from te Ika-a-Maui, the Maori word for New Zealand’s North Island.  Here’s a link where I find the Information: Link, Link. The female Maui dolphin grow to just 1.7 m and weight up to 50 kg, while males are slightly smaller.

Maui dolphin eat fish and squid. Maui dolphin are very slow breeders, they half one calf every two years or Three years.    

Next, Hector Dolphins, Hector's Dolphin are the smallest and one of the rarest  marine mammals dolphin in the world, A “Marine” mammal means, they live in the sea, but can breathe in the air. Hector dolphin is only found off the coast of New Zealand. All of the dolphins seen in New Zealand water’s, only the Hector’s dolphins are the ones with rounded black dorsal fin.

They also have distinctive black markings on their fins, tails, flippers and faces. Hector's dolphin live for up to 20 years. Both the South Island Hector’s dolphin and the North Island Maui’s dolphin are listed internationally as species threatened with Extinction, Extinction means the state or process of being or becoming extinct.  Here’s a link where I found information about Hector’s dolphin: Link, Link

Next, Indus and ganges river dolphin, These freshwater dolphin live in the rivers of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Ganges river dolphin can only live in the fresh waters. Females are larger than males, and give birth once every two to three years to only one calf. They are often found alone or in small groups, and generally a mother and calf a travel together. “Calf means a young bovine animal. Calves are chocolate brown at birth and then have grey-brown.
