Film Study - Colour and lighting in the two Worlds

Hi! Welcome to another blogpost of mine. In film studies (Hurumanu 2), we've shifted our focus on learning about the colors and lighting techniques used in the same movie Coraline. In the movie, the colors and lightings were used really well to tell the story. Now we were tasked to write paragraphs about it. Describing the contrast of colors between the two worlds which is the 'real' world and the 'other' world.

In the first meeting of Coraline’s genuine parents in the regular world, it starts off having cold and dull lighting. Artificial bright grey lights make it seem colorless and empty. Only Coraline’s presence stands out in every scene with her vibrant blue hair and yellow clothing. The cold lighting also matches the cold mood because her parents seem to neglect her and give her the cold shoulder. The dullness gives a melancholic vibe to the viewers. They might also even feel dissatisfied with how things are like the protagonist in the story, Coraline. In this scene, it also uses the technique of a wide shot. It includes every detail in the room. The room looks empty and plain indeed. 

PE: Gymnastics

Konnichiwa! Today in PE we were practicing our gymnastic skills of a specific thing. I chose to do the balance beam. Personally, I'm not really an athletic kind of person so I had some trouble trying to balance on the beam. Especially, I have some sort of acrophobia (fear of heights). It was challenging for me but I tried my best and here's what I got. We had to follow one of the activities we could do on the balance beam. I did the first one which was the scale balance. Basically, all you have to do is stand in a straight leg with the foot turned out (arms to side or front). We had to take evidence of us doing our task. 

Therefore here's my evidence. (PS. I sort of failed it)

Hello! Welcome to another post. Last week, we were learning about Leadership. We discussed what qualities does a good leader has and we were tasked to create a DLO about it. Savoury Bread Cases - Home Economics

Hi, Happy Valentine's everyone!
I'm back again blogging about Home Economics (Cooking) session today on Friday.
We cooked savory bread cases.

The Ingredients are:
Grated Cheese, Beans, Ham, White Bread or Brown Bread, can spaghetti, butter, and muffin tray.

Equipment:
Bread knife, Sharp knife, cutting board, and a teaspoon and an oven.

Methods:
1) Get your piece of bread and cut the crust off by using a bread knife.
2) Put some butter on one of the sides of the bread.
3) Put your bread upside down inside the muffin tray. Make sure the butter side will touch the muffin tray so that it won't get stuck there later on taking off.
4) After that, Bake your bread for 5 mins. Make sure to put it in Fan Bake and 200.
5) While it's baking prepare your feelings that your goanna put inside. You can put whatever you like as long as It will fit inside the bread.
6) Take out your bread from the oven make sure to use baking gloves so you don't burn yourself.
7) Place the bread onto the table, make sure to put something under it so the table won't burn itself.
8)Fill your bread with the kinds of stuff you want inside. I recommend putting those following stuff above and put grated cheese over everything else.
9) Bake it again for a bit longer this time.
10) Enjoy your food.

Home Economics - Tuesday

Hi, today I'm blogging about this week's Home Economics (cooking) subject and what we did. First of all, we had 2 sessions, 1 on Tuesday and 1 on Friday.

On Tuesday, we didn't do any cooking related, we instead discuss the rules/expectations in this subject and familiarise the new food tech room.

We did a DLO about Personal Hygiene VS Personal Safety:

Familiarising the room: 

Equipment - where is it?

= 1st drawer, Scissors, Peeling, Stirring spoons
= 2nd drawer - Types of tease spoons, Tongs
= 3rd drawer - rolling pins
= 4th drawer - Glass bowls
=Under the sink - 1st drawer Washing dishes stuff || 2nd drawer - saucepans
=Under the microwave - large pans
=Under the Oven - Muffin Trays

My first impression of the room was... I thought of it was It was a bit small than the room we used to have for Food Tech but It was very simple though. Some things have moved somewhere because of the room's layout. The different colour cutting boards are now in the front stool-like in the hotel with the wheels on.

The Best Day Of My Summer Holiday - ESOL

 I'm blogging again about my summer holidays. I know I've already done this yesterday but this one is for ESOL subject so I'm going to make another version of my summer holidays. In my 1st blog about my holidays, I pretty much talk about my trip to Queenstown so now I'm just gonna talk on some other stuff I did during holidays.

In my summer holidays, I didn't do much. I spend my holidays mostly at home relaxing. I don't like going outside that much so I pretty much stayed at home being cozy. We went to some places though like Queenstown. We had a long journey to Queenstown about 5 hrs to get there. It was pretty exhausting, to be honest, and to be MORE HONEST I didn't like long drives like those. Especially If you've been there already, so there's really nothing to be excited about.

Anyways, Except for going to Queenstown... I'm gonna share how I spend my New Year.

First of all, I spend my New Year at my house. My parents enthusiastically cook a lot of delicious dishes to start off the New Year with a full tummy. I can't really remember each of the dishes that we had so here is some. My caring mother made a dessert in the Philippines called "Buko Salad". It's a type of salad as you can tell by the name.

It's a salad contained Green coloured Jelly, thin slices of Buko (coconut), Macarons, creamy milk and another sort of food that I can't remember the name. If you wanna know how to make it yourself, here's the link to the recipe. LINK. I guarantee you that you will surely love it.

Aim: To compare the amount of gas that is produced from different types of biomass.

Material For Bottle 1:

1.   1cup Horse Manure
2.   1Bottle
3.   1Balloon
4. Gloves 
5. Water

Material for Bottle 2:

1.   1cup Horse Manure
2.   1Bottle
3.   1Balloon
4.   1Mashed Banana
5.   Gloves
6. Water

Material for Bottle 3:

1. 1cup Horse Manure
2. 1Bottle
3. 1Balloon
4. 1cup vegetable crops
5. Gloves
6. Water

Steps:

1.  Put on your gloves because you don't wanna touch those disgusting things.
2.   Get your large plastic bottle and a plastic cup.
3.  Scoop 1 cup of Horse manure and put it inside the bottle.
4.  Next, get whatever next ingredients you're doing. Its either, mashed banana and Vegetable crops (optional)
5. Now get your water and fill the bottle up until it reach this level:

       6.  Now get your balloon and put it at the mouth of the bottle.

The purpose of putting a balloon on top of it is because over time it will fill the balloon with the biomass gas from the inside of the bottle.

Science Hurumanu - The Water Cycle

Hurumanu: The Water Cycle

AIM: TO LOOK AT THE WATER CYCLE AND HOW CLIMATE CHANGE IS AFFECTING IT.

Definition:

Scientific words:

• Evaporation. When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapour.
• Transpiration. Evaporation from plants.
• Condensation. When water vapour cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
• Precipitation. When clouds get heavy the waters falls as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
• Acidification: the action or process of making or becoming acidic.

We will be conducting an experiment that looks at the different ways that climate change is affecting the water cycle.

THE WATER CYCLE EXPERIMENT

Bag 1: Normal Water cycle

Bag 2: Water cycle with CO2 added: like Oceans in climate change

Bag 3: Water cycle with ice added: like Antarctica in climate change

Material:

1. 1x cup Water / Soda Water
2.  3x Bag
3.  1x Blue Food Colouring
4.  1x A piece of Litmus Paper
5.  1x Permanent Marker
6.  Sand 

Steps:

1.  Get a piece of a large bag and a permanent marker from a teacher.
2.  Draw the water cycle on the bag and labelled it (optional)
3.  Pour a 1 cup of Water or Soda water into the Bag.
4.  2 drops of blue food colouring into the bag.
5. Hang the bag in the window.
6. In Bag 2 I added a piece of Litmus paper hanging at the top. Make SURE it doesn't touch the water.
