Environmental Sustainability Keywords

Hello today in our Hurumanu 1 lesson, we looked at environmental sustainability keywords that relate to environmental sustainability. We were tasked to drag and match the words to its definition. Also to color code it red, orange, or green. Green: Improving environmental sustainability. Orange: Environmental sustainability is balanced (no better, no worse). Red: Environmental sustainability is getting worse.

Making our own hand demo

Hi. This week we began making our own hand demo in Hurumanu 1 (Science + English). Our main learning topic in Science is the human body and its structures and how it works. Such as bones, muscles, organs, and so on. This week we focus on the hands. Firstly, let's learn how to do our hands work?

Our hands can move because there are lots of parts that work together to make it move. They are Bones, Joints, Muscles, Tendons, and Ligaments.

  • Bones in the handThere are 3 bones in each finger and two in the thumb There are 5 bones in the palm- leading to each finger. Bones provide structure and support.
  • Joints in the hand - It's where two bones meet is called a "joint". Joints allow movement between bones.
  • Ligaments in the hand - Ligaments attach bones together. They allow movement in certain directions only.
  • Tendons in the hand - Tendons attach bone to muscle. Long tendons run from the tip of our fingers down to our muscles.
  • Muscles in the hand - There are NO muscles in our fingers. Only in our palm and forearm. The muscles then move our fingers by contracting and relaxing. As the muscle contracts, it pulls on the Tendon, making our finger curl down.

Three Aspects of Sustainability

This week in Hurumanu 1 we are learning the three aspects of sustainability. The three aspects of sustainability are Social, Environmental, and Economical sustainability. Here is the definition of the three aspects of sustainability and as well as sustainable development.

The three aspects of sustainability

  • Environmental Sustainability - ensuring the future generation's needs are are accessible when it comes to natural recourses that can be found in the environment. We can, by using renewable resources instead of non-renewable ones.
  • Social SustainabilityCreating equality of access to resources regardless of who they are between social groups. Knowing the impacts of business and knowing how to manage it. As well as identifying the positive and negative effects on people and the economy.
  • Economic Sustainability - Is all about using and taking recourses wisely that we need in a sensible amount that would be still accessible in the future with future generations.
  • Sustainable Development - the ability to meet the needs of future generations without compromising. In order to do that, we shouldn't take advantage of the available resources on this planet and only take the necessary.

English Film Language

Hi, in one of my new hurumanu subjects which is English, we are learning about films and all the other aspects that have to do with it such as visual & sound techniques and so on. For the first week of this subject, we were tasked to make our own language of film dictionary. Here's the link to our task.

English Language Film

Body Language

It is used in the film to show communication between characters through their movements, pose, and facial expressions to give an understanding of what is happening in the film. It could be as simple as smiling which shows the character is feeling happy.

Costumes

It is used to describe the characteristics of a character in the story or what their roles are or the weather in the show. For example, the characters might wear some warm slacks or jackets to show that the weather is cold and chilly.

Hairstyles

It is used to show the character’s traits and characteristics or could also represent what their roles are just like costumes. For example, a character might have some spiky dyed hair which often represents gangsters.

Make-Up

It is also used to show or describe the character’s traits or characteristics. Make-up usually makes an actor’s visual appearance more appealing to others or to match up to their character’s attributes. Often, make-ups are often applied to women to show the typical “feminine” sides.

Colour

It is used to set up the mood in the show. For example, a blue colour tends to set up the mood into sadness, or an emotional state.

Lighting

It’s used to set up the attention of the audience to a certain thing such as spotlights. It also sets the mood of the scene. It makes the scene better because it would have great lighting in it.

Props

It’s used to make a scene more realistic or could show some traits of a character. For example, a character might be described as some sort of fairy. She would have some fairy wings as props.

Settings

Settings is another word for background or surroundings. A setting might change based on the progress of the story.

Dialogue

It’s a conversation or some sort of between two characters or more in a story. It is usually plotted in films and movies.

Sound Effects

Sound effects make a film more interesting. It creates a mood for the scene. It also creates suspense.

Music

Music is also used to create a mood in a scene and would probably make a better understanding for the audience. For example, the scene might be romantic, they could play romantic music in the background.

Silence

Silence is usually used to hook the audience’s attention and could also create some serious mood.

Symbols

Symbols are usually used to create an idea of what’s happening in the story or like metaphors. For example, in a film, a man might give flowers to the woman as a symbol of his affection for her.

Special FX

Special effects are used in movies to make something artificial look realistic. With these, it makes the films believable and appealing to the audience, especially if it is some mythical creatures such as large wolves, vampires, and so on.

Bye! Have a nice day!

My lovely photo-montage collage artwork!

Hello! This week in Art, we moved on making our own photo-montage collage art. The photomontage style of art is a montage constructed from photographic images The previous one was made on paper. This time around, we are having a go in making our own photomontage collage digitally. we were tasked to make a couple so here's mine. I made 3 in total. I hope you like it!

Photomontage 1:
This was my first attempt at making a photomontage collage digitally. The idea I had in my head was to make it as a desert theme. As you can see, on the right side, I made that person's arm turn into some macarons because it sorta fit in from the wrist. The ice cream cone that the figure was holding ended up looking like Hello Kitty because of the cherry representing it as the bow. The hand that is holding the White cat signifies that it is getting served that is why the angle of that arm is a bit higher than the left one. Speaking of the left side, the ice cream cone that the figure was holding contained a cute round bunny. At the top of the bunny, there is a sunflower plant growing in its head. Having the orange wing butterfly hanging on it just adds to the idea that it is an actual plant and is pollinating the sunflower. At last, the background is just some deserts that relate to the main object.

Photomontage 2:
This is my second photomontage collage art. The theme of this artwork is lemons. I started it off with some anime guy, eventually covered it's faced with a large lemon and added some details to it by pasting some small lemons both sides to represent the ears. I noticed the t-shirt were kinda empty so I pasted some lemons that have some green leaves on it to the shirt to give it some design. With all of those details, it turned out to be a lemon figure. Although it didn't have any facial structures, the hands, neck and body were enough to consider it as a person. The figure is on a pose that makes both of their fists crumbled up into a ball as a sign of cheer. As the whole thing is mostly just yellow, it represents the enthusiasm and energy that the colour yellow brings out. As well as the Sunflower on the bottom left corner.

Photomontage 3:
Lastly, this was the third photomontage collage artwork. Firstly, I took a photo of one of the k-pop idol that I adore. I cut the picture and edited the background. But before I moved on to the background, I edited a white shadow at the back of the person to make it more like 3d. Now for the background, I gathered some aesthetic peach themed pictures from the internet and just sorta paste them all over the place. You can also see some of the repetitive images on the background somewhere. I only used about 8 different images and put it all together to turn into an aesthetic background. As you probably noticed, I also put some of the pictures into a different angle. It turned out pretty well. For the finishing touch, I decided to add some flower crown to the person.

If I have to choose out of these 3 masterpieces of which one I like the most, I would probably choose Photomontage 3, it's because I put a lot of effort and hard work into this one, especially the background and the white shadow of the figure. Therefore, I am proud of all of my finished product artwork.
I hope you liked my art and have a nice day everyone! Bye~!

Hurumanu 5: Summary & Reflection

Hello! This week is the end of our current Hurumanu subject and next week we will be moving on to the next rotation. In this blog post, I am just reflecting on the previous things we've done in this Hurumanu subject, (Hurumanu 5 Science & Maths). One of the things that we have done in this rotation is Geometry and Algebra. We were taught a different variety of things relating to geometry/algebra and as well as Science in the combine. For the past 13 weeks in this Hurumanu, I don't really have a favourite part that I liked. Not because it was bad or boring or anything. It's just Maths isn't the subject I would be enthusiastic to learn about. However, for the most part, on the Science side. I think I enjoyed some of the experiments we did. What could make this Hurumanu better maybe is to explain a bit further on the new topic we are learning for a better understanding for some of the students but other than that, I think this Hurumanu wasn't too bad.

Now, to show some of our learning we've learnt in this subject, we were tasked to make a DLO showing our understanding in one of the things that we were taught of. For the past few weeks, we were taught the basic of Algebra. We learnt about Algebraic equation. Now in this DLO, we have to show a little bit of the science side. For the science part, I did Botany. I'm just gonna show you how to put your plant growth rate into an equation. At the beginning of the slide, I'm just showing each by step on how to solve an Algebraic Expression. I hope you like it and learnt something new! Bye!
