Health: Discovery Project - NPD

Hi everyone! In health, we were set a task that required us to explore areas of health that interest us in groups or individuals. I decided to work alone on this project and the topic I chose was Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).

Firstly, we had to answer this doc that was shared with us regarding our chosen topics. There were questions that help us with our research to get a better understanding of our topic. We had to select 5 big questions to answer for the topic of our choice. After answering those 5 big questions, we then proceed to answer strategies or ways to overcome our specific topic.

Lastly, we had to make an activity or something that teaches another group or the class about our topic. I decided to make a detailed slide-presentation with pictures in it.

I think I just worked okay with myself as for this discovery project. However, I think I could improve on managing my time efficiently so that next time I submit my work to the given due date. Other than that, I think it's all fine. I enjoyed learning about NPD and was fascinated by how underneath the extreme confidence and ego lies a vulnerable damaged self. Anyway, thank you for reading and viewing my blogpost. Have a nice day!

Hurumanu 5: Lemon Batteries 🍋

Aim: To produce an electrical current using lemons.

Equipment:

  • Copper electrode

  • Zinc electrode

  • Copper wire

  • Lemon

  • Voltmeter

Methods:

  1. Roll your lemon onto the table, softening the inside.
  2. Push in the Copper electrode and Zinc electrode onto the Lemon.
  3. Get your Voltmeter, plugged in the negative and positive wire to their proper placement.
  4. Clip the negative wire to the Zinc electrode.l
  5. Clip the positive wire to the Copper electrode.
In the Voltmeter, there it will show how much the volts the Lemon produce.
Here are some pictures of the experiment:

In my groups' lemons, it only produced 1 volt. I wasn't expecting a lot from this so I guess it was fine. We also attempt to connect a couple of lemons together to see how much volts it would produce. It produced about 5 volts all together.

Have a great day and bye!

Welcome to PE at Level 2

Reflection - PE

Hello, during the quarantine lockdown. One of the things I like was having free time at home and get to spend some quality time with my family. Things that I didn't like was the amount of too much free time that I have on my hands, I started doing some random stuff that I would most regret later on. Like for example, cutting some of my hair. But I guess overall, it wasn't that bad.
Kenma Kozume | Haikyuu!! Wiki | Fandom
Besides being stuck in quarantine along with boredom. I actually did a little bit of PE related stuff. Such as walking through my neighborhood in the morning for some exercises. It was kinda tiring especially my legs were used to just relaxing and instead of doing some active physical stuff. Not to mention, I also played with my sister a Volleyball.

Ideas on what game to play on Starter, Activity, and Warm-down game:

Starter - 20 Star Jumps, Jump Rope.

Warm-down game - Octopus, freeze tag.

Activity - Indoor Hockey.

Bye have a nice day!~

Evaporation || Hurumanu 3, Chemistry ||

Hello, Today in Hurumanu 3, we are learning about evaporation. The teacher gave us 3 questions to answer in our blog. Here are three questions:
1. Why a dissolved-solute cannot be filtered
2. What evaporation is?
3. How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution?

I did some research but here you go. Let's answer the easiest question. What is Evaporation?
Evaporation is an act turning liquid to gas. Like for example, In the water cycle, there is a part that the liquid or should I say ocean evaporates by the sunlight shining through it causing it to become clouds in the sky.

Next question, Why a dissolved-solute cannot be filtered? I think It can't be filtered because the solute has already dissolved and has mixed with the solvent, but it can still be filtered by evaporating it and it will leave out the dried solute.

Last but not the least, How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution. Just like I've answered at the top, you can evaporate it. Now how do you do it? You use bunsen burners or just flames but be careful and you basically just heat up the solution. Eventually, it will do the magic. Bye!
Do you like the subject Science? Why or Why not?

9/11 Timeline - Hurumanu 3 - Chaos

Hello! This week and last week in Hurumanu 3 (Chaos Side) we are learning about a chaos incident back in the last decade. People mostly call it '9/11' due to the date of when the big accident happened. It occurred on September 11, 2001, in New York, America. Our task was to make a timeline on the main events that happened that unfortunate day. Here's my timeline:
I hope you like it! Have a wonderful day!

Yr 9 Wananga Goal Setting

Konnichiwa! I just wanna share my Year 9 Setting Goal This Year. Mostly this is about This Term 1 but some are whole year goal. Here have a look:

It was kind of tricky for me to select my goals because I don't really know what to focus on this year. How about you? What are your goals this year?

Baking Cupcakes

Hi! I just wanna share something I did during the weekends. My little sister and I decided to bake cupcakes! She made the chocolate flavor one and I made the Vanilla one. We had fun making them but there are some struggles like getting the correct amount of ingredients. It was pretty easy-ish to make and here are some photos of our cupcake.

As you can see, some of the cupcakes have designs on them and you can really tell If It's Vanilla or Chocolate, that's because we mixed the leftovers that cant fit on the cupcake tray.
That's it bye.

Health/Haoura - Hurumanu 8 - || Ed Sheeran Spiritual Wellbeing ||

Hi, My name is Elisha, Today in Hurumanu 8 - (Health/Hauora) we are learning about Spiritual or Taha Wairua in Maori. Taha Wairua is one of the 4 sides of Hauora. It's about finding who you are, your beliefs, direction or your purpose in life. We watched a video of Ed Sheeran making a speech about spiritually related things after winning an award.

Here's the video:

Ed Sheeran's key values and beliefs in this video are...
Beliving that you don't have to change yourself for other people's acceptance. Instead, embrace yourself for who you are. If your weird, keep being weird. Just be who you are and you don't need to feel ashamed of it. Ed's Taha Wairua is growing up pretty well because he has this kind of attitude to accept his own flaws and for who he is.
Bye!~ BeYOUtiful!

Tane Mahuta CIP update!

Today was a blast in Tane Mahuta CIP! We have clean up pretty almost everything in the outdoor classroom and we have started planting plants in the garden. First off, I helped to mix the soil in the garden to have some healthy soil for the plants. The soil is a bit hard maybe because it frosted because this past few days the weather is cold. But because we're doing it in teamwork we've successfully made the soil smooth and soft again. Mr Tisch got a couple of baby cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce and beetroot. Next, we've covered the plants with some shelter. We find strong and thick sticks bury in the ground (both sides) and cover the large plastic shelter thing over it.
 It looks like this:

After we're done with the garden we came to help the people in the outdoor classroom group. We help them move some metal parts and bits and pieces of woods from the cabinet etc. It was pretty heavy because of some large things like cabinets, doors etc.

Bye and have a great day!

P.E. Hurumanu - Fitness Testing!

Kamusta! So today I'll be telling you about our new Hurumanu. This new exciting Hurumanu is PE! I know we've already done PE Hurumanu with Mr Goodfellow and Miss Tozer but this new one is a new PE Hurumanu with Miss Birtch and Miss Simpson. In this hurumanu, we're focusing on getting our fitness better and so we have a healthy body.

This week in our 2nd PE hurumanu, we've been doing fitness testing. Today we're doing beep test It was really kind of hard for me because I don't really like running so I'm kinda a slow runner but because I didn't give up I reached Level 5.2 the highest was Level 10.10 but It's fine I tried my best. There is another fitness test we've done on Monday this week but I couldn't get the results because Zoe forgot to share it to us and she's away today.

I think I really need to improve on my stretching and running because during the exercise where we stretched our legs and we need to touch it with our hands. I can't do it because I'm not a flexible type of person nor a good long-distance runner. I think
to improve in those 2 things is that I would do a daily stretching at home and run at least 3 laps every day around our backyard.

Behind that hardwork, I think I also did get along really well with my groups, they were unto it. I think I did really well on cheering them when they are having a hard time like doing the beep test. When I cheered them I think I made them had the courage to face it and not give up. One of my teammates we're having a hard time doing sit-ups but luckily I held her feet and helped her.

I really enjoyed this new hurumanu even though It's a bit hard for me at least I had fun.
Thank you for reading my post about our new hurumanu subject. Have a wonderful day to y'all.

The Enticing Revolution Tour!

The Enticing Revolution Tour!

Talofa! in Tuesday this week, the amazing Revolution group visited our school.
So, today I'm gonna share to you about how was my experience about it. The tour happened in our great auditorium; They welcomed us with some enjoyable games and performance using Saxophone by Reggie. He performed Let It go, Just the way you are and Kiki do you love me. It was wild, to be honest, but I really enjoyed it. The games that we played was called "Throw your friend under the bus".  Reggie has to call like the "Athlete" and if you have a friend that is very confident in sports then you should point at him/her or drag them to go up to the stage. It was entertaining and embarrassing at the same time.

I was lucky no one picked me, but my friend Lyan got picked for being the smartest person. After a couple of minutes, the Athlete, Smart, Funny, Shy and the Teacher is in the stage now. Reggie has to ask them a question about bullying, and they just have to say False or True, and a sound effect will just pop up. But then, the last question was tricky for the teacher and Miss Tozer got it wrong. The question was about Does a bully have low self-esteem? The answer was a bully has a High Self-esteem.

Image result for a sad puppy faceHe also shared the story of his life; It was upsetting. Her own mum didn't accept him as a son, because he was the result of sleeping with another man for money in order to buy food because they were poor. He was only 14 years old until he got his last name. It was really a touching story.
But behind those problems, he manages to overcome those problems.

It was really a nice experience having to watch those talented people performed.

Thanks for reading my experience about the Revolution Tour.

How to play Bench Ball

How to play Bench Ball

Hey guys! Today in P.E. Hurumanu we played the game Bench Ball again. When we first played it I didn't get to talk about how to play this awesome game. But today, I'm gonna teach you how to play it.

What you'll need:
 - A circle ball
- 12 players or more (6 each team)
- A large bench to fit all the players of a team
- Bibs (Optional) so you know which is your teammates

How to play it:

Aim - To make all your teams go up to the bench.

How - By passing the ball to that one person in the bench.

Positions - 1 Defender in the other side
1 Ball catcher person on the bench
5 players, their job is to pass it to their teammates until the ball catcher person catch the ball, and that person who throws the ball to the Ball catcher person will go up to the bench and help the Ball catcher person to catch some balls from their teammates.

What the court looks like:

Now you know how to play Bench Ball!
Time for questions!

What aspect of teamwork did your team focus on?
My team focus on Inclusion and Positive Attitude.

How well did your team go with your teamwork focus?
My team did well on Inclusion because everyone is passing it to each other in order to the Ball catcher person catch the ball. My team also quite did well on Positive Attitude but there's still room for Improvement.

What could your team have done better?
Next time, we could give compliments to each other more, instead of blaming them for making the ball out.

For me, the Bench Ball game is the best game so far for our Team because we win 2 games and 1 tie.
Bye, I hope you learned something and have a great day!

Scones!!!

Hello Guys! Today in Science we are making scones. We are making 3 different scones, First, we are making a normal one, then the other 2 is our own choice of ingredients. Like for example, we want the scones to have a little bit of lemonade or something. Again, in this experiment, I'm with Risha, Shreya, and Nevaeh and we decided to name our group ESNR.

The purpose of making a normal scone is because, so when all of the 3 scones are cooked we are gonna compare the normal one compare from the other 2 of the choice of our own ingredients as a group.

Aim: To look at different kitchen ingredients in scones and their effects

Ingredients of the normal one:
- 1/2 cup Edmons standard flour
- 1 tsp Edmon's baking powder or 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp butter
- 1/4 cup milk, approximately or 1/4 cup lemonade

So basically, The second one and the third one's ingredients are the same but we just added some ingredients.

Materials:
- Medium Bowl
- Spoon
- Plate
- Paper and Paper for labeling

Process:
Step 1. Get all the ingredients and put them in a medium bowl like that one at the top the orange one.

Step 2. Get a spoon or something to stir with, and mix all the ingredients inside that bowl.

Step 3. When your done mixing them, take them out if they are ready to knead, make sure they are not too sticky or watery, Make sure to shape them like a scone.

Step 4. Get a paper and a pen to label them, and write like "Normal" and your group names. The reason why we have to label them is that, so we know which is which.

Here's our one:
For the second one - We added 1 tsp of Baking soda for the 2nd one.

For the third one - We added 1/2 cup of lemonade for the 3rd one.
So basically we just added ingredients and we didn't take out ingredients.

Step 5. Last but not least put all the 3 scones in a tray

Step 6. Put them in an oven.

Step 7.  Put them in a 425 f, and let them cook.

Conclusion:

TRIAL NUMBER:

Colour

TASTE

HEIGHT (CM)

1. NORMAL

WhiteYummy40 mm

2.Baking Soda

BrownDisgusting35 mm

3. Lemonade

WhiteYummy 45 mm

Evidence of That Data:

For me, The best one was the normal one of course.
Bye Guys! Have a great day!

Skittles Experiment YUM!

Namaste! Today I'm gonna be sharing you guys the second coolest experiments we did today in Science. This experiment is called Chromatography Skittles.

Aim - To see the colors separate in a circle container.

Materials
- Circle Container
- Skittles
- Water

Steps:

1. Get a circle container
2. Get different colour skittles of your choice
3. Place the skittles separated to each other like in the photo so it won't mix.
4. When you're ready, get water and pour it into the circle container where you put the skittles.
5. See what happens and record it or take a picture of it and to post it into your blog.

That's all thank you for taking the time to read this post, don't forget to leave a Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful comment down below. :-)

RAINBOW PAPER!

Kamusta! today in Science were doing two cool experiments, and one of those experiments are called chromatography Pens. So I'm gonna tell you how to do it, Here are some easy steps to do this cool experiments.

Aim - To separate the colours.

Materials:
- Chromatography Paper
- Pens - Red, Black, Green
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Water
- Plastic Cup

Steps:

1. Get a piece of Paper and mark the top of the paper about 2 cm and at the bottom mark 1 cm using the ruler.
2. Get the 3 color pens of your choice and mark it like this and fold the top where you mark it about 2 cm:

3. Get your plastic cup and hang your piece of paper in the side of the cup and pour some water inside just about the 1 cm where you mark it like this:

4. Just don't move it and wait about 5 mins or more for the colors to spread out.

Our ones failed because we used a black marker to mark the lines, and it affects the experiment.

That's All for Today! See you on our next cool chromatography experiments.

Experiment no. 2 in Science

Kia Ora Everybody! This Term we have a new subject which is Science! At the start of Term 3, our first experiment, it's called "Hokey Pokey". The thing is I'm not there on that day when they did the experiment, because I was in "ESOL", stands for English Speaking of Other Lauguages.
But for a change, I attended last week (Just on last week Tuesday) science second experiments it's called "Red Cabbage Indicator".

For those who don't know it, here's a video that might help you:
(This is similar to what are we doing)

This is the materials/recipe that we used in Science to make to make this colorful indicator:
Bunsen Burner, Tripod (Not the one that you to stand a camera), 6 test tubes, mat, glass rod, red cabbage an cut it into pieces, beaker at least 200ml, wire gauze, Funnel, water, shampoo, florclean, lemonade, toilet cleaner, toothpaste, sodioum hydrox.

Step One: We set up the mat then put the bunsen burner and set it up, next put the tripod above the bunsen burner. Place the metal map above the tripod and finally put the wire gauze before the beaker at the top.  Set it up like this:
(We take the photo while letting the red cabbage boil)

Step Two: We put water inside the beaker at least 100ml of water, then we put the red cabbage at least 100ml, then we turn on the bunsen burner into blue flame (Blue flame is very hot) as you can in the pics, there's no flame at all, but trust me there's a flame. The reason why you can't see it because the light was on so yeah.

Step 3: At first you need to mix it with the glass stick, it will turn into light blue then to dark blue. The more you mix it, the more it will turn darker. Just let it boil in a few minutes. At the start of it, you will see tiny bubbles on the edge or in the middle. That means it's starting to boil.

Step 4: After a few minutes later it's starting to boil like crazy, you need to turn off the bunsen burner, (You need a brave person to turn it off). Now we need our funnel, put the funnel at the top of one test tube. Then let the red cabbage cooler in a couple of minutes. After that pour the red cabbage to one of the test tubes, do the same to other test tubes.

After that put each test tubes this thing:  shampoo, florclean, lemonade, toilet cleaner, toothpaste, sodioum hydrox. It's doesn't matter which test tubes you put those things in.

This is the result of our Experiment:

Reflection: It was pretty, but there's still a room for improvement.
Bye see yah!
