Wananga Reflection: #5 Goal Setting with Mark Manson

Hey everyone! Today in Wananga we are doing another Wananga reflection section.
---------------------------
Text Title: The surprising science of goal setting (and why you're probably doing it wrong)
Type: Article
Text Creator: Mark Manson
Text purpose: To know about the surprising science behind goal setting.
Date: May 21, 2021

Chapter 1:Why should we have a mixture of specific and general goals?
The reason why we should have a mixture of specific and general goals is that setting specific and measurable goals can help you directly on your goals. It is like having a GPS for your life. And just like the GPS on your phone needs a specific destination to be useful, external goals really only work when you have a specific outcome in mind.

General goals are best for internal pursuits. Specific goals are good but in many ways more useful than specific goals because they are endless and internal. You can never finish “being healthy.” You can never fully achieve “being a better writer.” There’s always something you could be doing better.

Chapter 2: What do we need to align our goals with? Consider how these affect your goals.
We need to align our goals with our values. If not, then this is a subtle way that we let others choose our goals for us. It is important to have a goal that aligns with our values so the goal would be actually enjoyable. The second is choosing ineffective goals in the first place. This would be a waste of time and you won't get any good results with it.

Wananga Reflection: #4 5 Year Plan

Hi, Today in Wananga we are trying a new concept on our Wananga Reflection activity. We are gonna be blogging or researching about an interest we have that will probably be useful for us. My current interest is writing in my journal and drawing outfits and people. I think I would see myself in five years probably making my own movies since I have a bit of an interest in making movies. It fascinates me how you could create a reality of fantasy through creating movies with all of those visual special effects etc.

The author of this text wants us to know that not everything is perfect in like the fairytale they portrayed. The theme of the book is acceptance, bravery, and personal sacrifice. The search for acceptance and connection. In a world where Cyborgs are considered as less than humans.

Additional task:
1.) One of your songs from your soundtrack and what it means to you, or link your soundtrack slide.

2.)What your personality test told you about yourself. (2 Sentences)
Based on my personality test results, it said that I was an ISFJ. Which stands for Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. It was high in introversion and I think it's quite accurate in what it tells about me.

3.)What you would tell an employer is your top strength in a job interview? (1 sentence)
I think what I would tell in a job interview is that my top strength is that I can get things done at work with my personality best that would benefit the company.

Wananga Reflection: #1 Treaty of Waitangi

Hi everyone! In Wananga, every Friday from now and then we have to do an activity called 'Wananga Reflection Section'. Basically, we spent half an hour reflecting on our blogs about a specific text or something that you can recall that happened in the school week.

Text title: "Waitangi - What really happened"

Type: Video/Dramatize documentary

Creator: Gavin Strawhan

Text purpose: To inform us about the treaty of Waitangi.

Date: 12 February 2021

Critical Literacy Matrix Question:

The text was about the treaty of Waitangi. It created in 7 episodes series telling what really happened in the olden days on the treaty of Waitangi. We know it's about the treaty of Waitangi because the characters and setting of the story were related to the topic. The actors dressed in traditional Maori clothing and as well as the British people. The introduction was showing how British people traveled using a ship and arriving in the land of New Zealand and discovering the Maori tribe that already have settled there before them. Later in the story, there was some kind of misunderstanding between the treaty of the Maori people and the British people regarding the land of Aotearoa (NZ). The translation in both languages wasn't accurate. Maori people thought they're only here to 'use' the land not to actually buy it and make it their territory.

Down here we have our little 3 comic panels that we worked on to summarised what we watched so far in the Waitangi - What really happened series.
